Parent guideHow to choose a school in Vadodara.
The right school is the one that fits your child, not the one with the longest list of facilities. Use this checklist on every campus visit, and ask for answers in writing.
The checklist
| Area | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Board | Which board for each grade? Is there a choice in the senior years? |
| Class size | How many children per class, and how many teachers? |
| Teachers | Are subjects taught by specialists? How are teachers trained? |
| Teaching style | How much is rote learning versus projects, inquiry and hands-on work? |
| Progress | How often are children assessed? How often do parents meet teachers? |
| Safety | Are staff police-verified? Is there CCTV, a medical room, bus attendants, a lifeguard at the pool? |
| Transport | Does the bus cover your area, and how long is the ride? |
| Fees | Ask for the full written fee schedule and the refund policy before paying. |
| Growth | Can your child stay on the same campus through to Grade 12? |
On the campus visit
Watch an ordinary class if you can, not a prepared demonstration. Look at children's work on the walls, notice whether children seem relaxed and engaged, and ask to meet the teachers who would teach your child.
