Inspired by Finland · Designed for India

The rigour of a global curriculum. The calm of a Finnish classroom.

Finland's schools are known for happy, confident learners who score among the world's best — without long hours, heavy bags or exam pressure. At Woodford we pair that philosophy, developed with our Finnish partner HEI Schools, with the Cambridge curriculum, so children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and science while staying curious about everything.

Read our philosophy

Learning by inquiry

Children investigate real questions through projects, experiments and field work, instead of memorising answers.

Wellbeing first

Play, movement and outdoor time are built into every day. A child who feels safe and happy learns far more.

Growth, not ranking

Progress is tracked through monthly assessments and portfolios, shared at quarterly parent–teacher meetings, so each child is measured against their own best.

Project-based learning

One real question. Two or three subjects. One project.

In real life, problems don't arrive one subject at a time, so at Woodford learning doesn't either. Every term, children work on projects that bring 2–3 subjects together around a real question. They learn the skills of each subject, then use them together to create, build and present something real.

Our school garden

Children grow vegetables on campus: they study how plants grow, measure and graph their growth every week, and keep a garden journal.

Market day

Children run a class market: they price products, handle money and give change, write signs and adverts, and pitch to visitors.

Save every drop

Children learn the water cycle, measure how much water their family uses, and design a campaign to help their homes save water.

My Vadodara

Children explore their city's history and neighbourhoods, draw maps to scale, and build a model of a street they know.

Social studiesMathematicsArt

Example projects for Grades 1–5. Each project ends with children presenting their work to parents and classmates.

A Woodford day

A school day unlike any other school.

Most schools run back-to-back periods, a different subject every 35–40 minutes, all day at a desk. Woodford's day is designed around how children actually learn: longer focused blocks, each followed by time to move, with a project every day and a moment to reflect before home time.

  1. Morning circle
No rushed assembly: children greet each other, hear the day's plan and settle in.
  2. Language block
UK-based phonics, reading and writing while minds are fresh.
  3. Outdoor break
Fresh air, free play and a healthy snack.
  4. Mathematics
    Hands-on materials, games and problem-solving.
  5. Project time
Every day: the term's project, connecting 2–3 subjects.
  6. Lunch & play
Eating together, then time to run around.
  7. Farming, making or the AI & Robotics Lab
On rotation: farming, creative arts, AI & robotics, entrepreneurship.
  8. Passion projects
Every day: each child follows their own interest.
  9. Music, sport or swimming
    Music, PE or the pool.
  10. Reflection & home time
What did we learn? What are we curious about tomorrow?
Long, focused blocks

Time to go deep, instead of a new subject every 35 minutes.

Move after every block

Each learning block is followed by a break, play or time outdoors.

Passion projects daily

Every child follows their own interest, every single day.

Ends with reflection

Children leave knowing what they learnt, not just what they did.

20 per class

Two teachers in Grade 1, then a subject specialist for every subject.

Light homework

Daily reading and short tasks, so evenings stay for family and play.

Signature programmes

Future skills, woven into the curriculum.

Not after-school extras. Every Woodford child gets hands-on time with technology, the arts and the natural world, as part of the timetable.

Coding & AI

Logical thinking through block coding and robotics, growing into real programming and a child-safe introduction to how AI works.

AR / VR learning

Walk through the solar system or inside a human cell. Immersive lessons that make hard ideas visible.

Maker lab & 3D printing

Design it, build it, test it, fix it. Children turn their ideas into real objects and learn that mistakes are part of making.

Agri-tech & hydroponics

Growing food with and without soil, measuring, recording and harvesting — science and sustainability, hands in the dirt.

Theatre & performing arts

Voice, movement and storytelling on stage, building the confidence to speak up and the empathy to listen.

Folk & textile arts

Gujarat's living crafts — block printing, weaving and folk art — taught with care for the hands, history and people behind them.

Admissions FAQs

Where is Woodford International School?

Our campus is at 124, Opp. Shiv Farm Party Plot, Saiyed Vasna, Vadodara 390007, in the heart of west Vadodara and a short drive from Sevasi, Bhayli, New Alkapuri and Gotri. School buses cover all prominent areas of Vadodara.

Which grades are open for admission in 2027–28?

Admissions are open for Grades 1 to 5 for the 2027–28 academic year. Grades 6 to 12 open in 2028–29.

Which board does Woodford follow?

The Cambridge curriculum for Grades 1 to 5, and a choice of CBSE or Cambridge pathways for Grades 6 to 12, all taught with Finnish pedagogy developed with our partner HEI Schools, Finland.

What is the class size?

A maximum of 20 children per class. Grade 1 has two teachers in every class; from Grade 2, each subject is taught by a subject specialist rather than one teacher teaching everything. Progress is tracked through monthly assessments, and parent–teacher meetings are held every quarter.

What is the age for Grade 1 admission?

A child should have completed 6 years of age as on 1 June of the admission year, as per Gujarat state norms.

What are the school timings?

The school day runs from 8:30 am to about 3:00 pm. Instead of back-to-back short periods, it has longer focused learning blocks, each followed by movement or outdoor time, daily project time, signature programmes and a reflection before home time.

What is project-based learning at Woodford?

Every term, children work on real projects that combine 2–3 subjects, such as a school garden project that brings together science, mathematics and English. They learn each subject's skills and use them together to create and present something real.

What makes Woodford different from other schools in Vadodara?

Woodford combines the Cambridge curriculum with Finnish pedagogy from HEI Schools, Finland: a maximum of 20 children per class, subject specialists from Grade 2, projects that connect 2–3 subjects at once, play, daily outdoor time and no ranking, combined with strong academics and programmes in coding, AI, robotics, maker lab, arts, theatre and swimming, all on one green campus.
